Newzealand after winning the toss started pretty well with debutant Devon Convoy and Tom Latham but after the later departed there was a little collapse in the middle order but Henry Nicholls along with Convoy made a good partnership and New Zealand got to a pretty good score. Along the way the debutant Convoy made history by making a double ton on debut at lords. He played a very sorted innings with some beautiful shots. When England came out to bat the were in tatters early as they were rocked with two wickets on 30 odd runs. But Rory Burns and Root combined to give England some consolidation and Rory Burns registered a century. But still England conceded a lead of 70 odd runs in first inning but a day being washed out to rain there was not enough time to get to a result even though New Zealand tried their best by declaring on mere 275. But it was too much left to do for the bowlers.
This Draw will give England side a sign of comfort as their batting has been struggling for quite a while now and drawing a test in these conditions will boost their morale. And the form of their openers wa saldo a concirn for them but both of them have gotten runs in this test match so that problem also seems to be solving. New Zealand on the other hand had a pretty good match. Their bowlers bowled beautifully and batsmen did their job by scoring runs, the debutant scored a double hundred and that too opening a inning. So they wouldn’t mind this at all.
