Punjab Kings are struggling for consistency, on paper they look a team to beat but they haven’t performed to the merit.Except Nicholas Pooran every batsman has got some amount of runs but they have not been consistent enough. In their last three games they have won against defending champions but have lost against struggling teams like SRH and KKR. Punjab have not found the best form of their players whether it be Kl Rahul who is struggling to get going with a strike rate of 129 this season or it may be Chris Gayle who hasn’t performed hoti his reputation. Mayank Agarwal also has gotten starts but hasn’t delivered that big score this season and the fact that Nicholas Pooran has got three ducks this season sums up his batting form. Maybe change in venue and the familiarity of conditions can provide them the form that the need in the batting lineup. They have rotated between Richardson, Meredith and Jordan for that third seamer spot but they have not yet found the best of all of them.
RCB have started the tournament like a dream, they have beaten defending champions Mumbai Indians and have 5 wins in 6 games. Even after the loss against CSK they came back in the last game to win a thriller against DC. The best thing for them in that game was that they defended a total in a crunch situation and that would give them immense confidence in themselves. AB de Villiers has been the Savior for RCB not only this season, he has been doing that job for years now and even after retirement he is doing it so easy. But the form of Devdutt Padikkal has been very helping too, and if Virat starts to get the runs then their already strong batting lineup will be formidable. This year RCB has what they didn’t had all these years, that is bowlers who can defend totals. The form of Siraj and inclusion of Kyle Jamieson and Harshal Patel has worked tremendously for them.
