Phew! It was a phenomenal game of cricket between the two batting powerhouse teams of IPL2020. As promised it was a high scoring games where this time RCB got of to a brilliant start as Aron Finch notched his first fifty in this year’s tournament and young Devdutt Paddikal also scored a responsible fifty. After that it was the AB show as he went berserk at the MI bowlers even Bumrah wasn’t spared. With some amazing batting display from AB and some useful big hitting from Shivam Dube RCB crossed the 200 mark.

When RCB got back on the ground with the ball in the hand there were two new opening bowlers for RCB and Sundar and Udana got RCB of to a dream start as they got Rohit and SKY out in the consecutive overs. With Hardik not hitting the top form and eventually hitting one to a fielder in the deep it was Ishan Kishan who didn’t lose his cool and continued to run singles and doubles. In the last five overs it was KIERON POLLARD’S time to do what he does best and he did. KP scored 60 runs on just 24 balls and Ishan missed out on his well deserved hundred by just one run. But what a counterattack it was, MI was almost out of it as required rate climbed up to 20 but you never count Kieron Pollard out of any chase. On the last ball the game was tied and it was time for a super over (second one of this year’s ipl).

In the super over another young talent displayed his capabilities with tha ball, Navdeep Saini and sealed the game for RCB but MI fought hard even when they had 7 runs to defend in the super over that to against the likes of AB de Villiers.

Rohit Sharma | Losing captain:┬áIt was a great game of cricket. We were not in the game at all when we started off with the bat. Great innings by Ishan there and then Pollard was brilliant as usual for us. It is just that we couldn’t start well, I thought we could chase 200 with the batting power we have. We didn’t get the momentum in the first 6-7 overs and also lost three wickets. With Polly being there anything can happen, Ishan was also hitting it well so we had the belief that we would get there. Nothing to take away from RCB they held their nerve more than us. He (Kishan) was drained out and was not comfortable. We thought we could send him but he was not feeling fresh. Hardik is somebody we trust to hit long balls, it is not coming off but we are confident he can pull things off for us. I mean 7 runs you need to have luck on your side, we had to get wickets but there was also an unfortunate boundary. We came back really well and a lot of positives to take away from this game.

Virat Kohli | Winning captain: I don’t have words right now. It was such a roller-coaster game. I think they played really well and patiently in the middle. It went down to the wire, we tried to execute the things we wanted to. We’ve got a close victory and these little things on the field, we really want to focus on it. I thought about who are the best guys to come back for twos and it was me and AB. It was all about stepping onto the field and taking responsibility. Fielding is something we need to work on. If we’d taken our chances, it wouldn’t have been so close. It was a good match-up against Jasprit. Top quality cricket and games like these, people would love to watch. The changes that we made, make Washi bowl in the PP paid off. Gurkeerat didn’t get a chance to bat. The guys showed good character. Outstanding Super Over from him (Saini). He used the yorkers and wide balls to good effect. This should boost us going forward.

To be honest, this would have been a major heartbreak had RCB lost this game after bossing it so well. Ishan Kishan and Pollard literally stole this from their bag with some unbelievable hitting. The calmness they showed when the asking rate was over 16 was just amazing to see. Kohli literally couldn’t watch his bowlers sail over the rope. That bloke has taken a beating for so long and he didn’t deserve to go through that yet again. He smiled after Pollard only managed to hit the boundary and not over the line off the last ball in the main game. Their pacers have had a lot of history, so they took a different approach with spin being the main weapon. It seemed to work well for them, but Pollard.. He turns into a beast when you tell him he’s playing RCB or CSK. Zampa leaked runs and the dew troubled Chahal too. Got to feel for those bowlers. These aren’t small boundaries, they’ve had to rub the pitch to dry their hands every ball. Kishan is still gutted, mainly because had he got a bit more bat on that hit he was caught, MI would have got home and he would have had that deserved hundred as well. RCB bag two crucial points.
